“We love the birds and we think our birds are extremely happy.”

Joe's farm at a glance:
Farming for the future

Healthy birds, Joe says, are easy to recognize.
“You can look at them and see that they’re well cared for,” he says. “They’ve got good feathering, they’re healthy and they’re producing well. That tells me it’s a pretty happy chicken.”
Joe’s birds forage freely – eating grass, grasshoppers and other bugs alongside a carefully formulated organic feed, ensuring a truly well-rounded diet.
why regenerative?
For Joe, the point isn’t perfection—it’s responsibility.
Joe didn’t grow up farming regeneratively but he embraced it once he saw how it worked. Today, the majority of the land he farms follows regenerative practices, with plans to keep expanding.
He spent years working in egg production before taking over the farm himself, and he credits his kids in large part for his shift to regenerative organic farming.
“You know, it changes when you have kids and you don’t want them to eat all the processed stuff that we had as kids. People want to know what they’re feeding their kids,” he says. “That’s what this is really about.”

Today Joe’s property spans just over 65 acres, with chickens roaming more than 63 acres of pasture—land chosen as much for its beauty as for its grass, shade and water.
Each bird has at least 108 square feet of outdoor access, and in practice, even more. “I have a little under 24,000 chickens on my farm that have access to a little over 64 acres,” Joe says. “If you do the math, they actually have about 121 square feet per bird.”
“We love the birds and we think our birds are extremely happy.”

wildoats partnership
“It’s great that Wild Oats is partnering with us and wanting to get that message out to the masses, because, you know, it’s something the more people that know about it and know the story, the better it is for all of us farmers."
“We need the consumers to continue to purchase regenerative organic eggs so that we can continue to grow and add more people and get more acres converted over to regenerative!”
